Bio:
Ergang Wang obtained his PhD in South China University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Yong Cao in 2008. His PhD thesis was nominated as TOP 100 of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations in China in 2010. He has been a postdoc in Prof. Mats Andersson group at Chalmers University of Technology in 2008-2011. After that, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 2012 and Associate Professor in 2016. He also won the Marie Curie fellowship in 2016 as a senior scientist. The focus of his work is mainly on the design and synthesis of conjugated polymers and graphene-like materials for organic solar cells, OLEDs and OFETs.

Our research at Chalmers mainly focuses on synthesis of conjugated polymers and Graphene-like materials. The applications of the materials include bulk-heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs),ADDIN EN.CITE ADDIN EN.CITE.DATA1-2organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) in near IR region and field effect transistors (FETs). As driven by the need of green energy, the interest in OSCs is rapidly growing due to their advantages of light weight, low cost and flexibility. The widely investigated OSCs are based on bulk heterojunction concept with a polymer as donor and a fullerene derivative (PCBM) as acceptor. In our recent work, we developed a polymer acceptor instead of PCBM and achieved efficiency of 7.6% in the resulting solar cells, which highlighted the promise of polymer:polymer solar cells.
